Class lounges, recently restored by the Foundation Calvet, host from June 25 to November 14, 2011 the exhibition sumptuous Egypt, bringing together over 400 works on Egypt. The exhibition, divided into five rooms on the ground floor with three rooms classified, has eight sections: The Egyptian wildlife: One of the most spectacular parts of the exhibition is a magnificent specimen of the Nile crocodile, on loan from the Museum of Natural History in Grenoble. Religion and major cultural sites: Thebes, Karnak, etc. ... The Spirit of lararium Calvet The cult of the dead Institutions, royalty and servants of the State The spread of Alexandrian and Egyptian cults in the Roman world in Egypt Coptic and Islamic Egypt. Egyptomania: the French taste for Egypt in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
The exhibition features many objects from the legacy Calvet (1729-1810) as well as Marius Clement.
Two sarcophagi (inv 23,509 to 23,510) acquired by the Foundation are exposed Calvet which one of them for the sitar player of Amun, Khonsu-Tachepen, lets us see the inside of the tank a beautiful representation Nut, the goddess of the sky.
