A community festival celebrating youth, cultural creativity & diversity, travel, artistry, music, sporting prowess among others is a hit in Cape Town, with the festivities centered in the Khayelitsha community. Local and national artists are invited to present a nonstop musical and dance show for three days in October.

The legend of Chinese poet Qu Yuan who threw himself into the Mi Lo River in response to the king’s refusal to heed his advice on reforms lives on in the Cape Town Dragon Boat Festival, a 3-day annual event in February. Private and corporate teams paddle it out in front of the trendy shopping center V&A Waterfront.
