Highlight

The oldest public library in Ireland houses thousands of rare books on the arts and sciences and medicine. The structure itself is a lovely Queen Anne Mansion, built in 1701. Inside are beautiful antique bookcases and cage-like alcoves, where scholars are locked in if they wish to read the tomes.

How to get there

On foot: 10 or 15 minute stroll from Grafton St. The library is located just behind St Patrick's Cathedral.
