Catacombs of the visitor is invited to discover a different approach of death, through the eyes of the photographer Olivier Meriel. Prior to the discovery of the ossuary in Paris, the exhibition proposes a series of eight images, reproduced on canvas, the famous Capuchin Catacombs of Palermo whose particularity is to present thousands of mummified bodies, dressed in their costumes . Shadow and light are the son drivers who have guided the photographer in his work as an exploration of the human condition and his symbolic death. Religious and civilian men, women and children faced in their eternity today to the contemplation of the visitors of the Catacombs of Paris. The uniqueness of the work of Olivier Meriel is a mastery of chiaroscuro, supported by the exclusive use of a view camera for shooting 20x25 cm or 30x40 cm. The prints are produced by contact and collect platinum and selenium on paper money rich contrasts. The powerful images Olivier Meriel was seized in 2006 in Palermo restore the character of these singular places troubling.
