Paris
Seine River
Highlight
While on a delightful cruise along the River Seine, breathe in the crisp air, and take in the wonderful sights on either bank. Connect the Paris landmarks with a stroll on either the left or right bank (just be sure your orientation is correct). Cross the 32 bridges - ancient and modern - again and again to discover willowy resting places, stone-quay hangouts, heritage- and picnic-site embankments, and festive walkways. Attractions include floating restaurants, discos, and cafes. Free benches make for a relaxing meal of wine, bread, and cheese.
More Info
Sequana, sacred river… Paris would not be what it is, without the life-giving properties and commercially-lucrative qualities of the Seine River. The Romans fought the Parisii tribe for possession of the river’s island. Over the centuries, the Franks, Norman English, Prussians, and Germans have swarmed over and across the Seine like lovesick supplicants, loath to mar the beauty of the city that has sprung around the river even if they came as conquerors or enemies. Countless artists have sought to translate the river’s beauty with varying media and styles.
How to get there
