Description
Skip the entrance line to St. Mark’s Basilica and learn the history that lines behind the walls that hold the secrets on how the city built on swamps became one of the most beautiful and romantic cities in the world.
From the square, enter a labyrinth of narrow passageways and alleys to discover the “real Venice.” See the magical city of meandering canals punctuated by delicate bridges. Visit the Campo Santa Maria Formosa and join the discussion on Venetian architecture as we admire the Gothic palaces lining the square. The tour continues to the Cannaregio district, location of the church of San Giovanni de Paolo where many important Venetians were laid to rest. We will also visit Marco Polo’s house and hear all about tales of this globe-trotting Venetian.
